She's actually already spoken with Bush, soon after Casey's death.
She even wrote about it (I'll see if I can find the article) and stated nothing but positives about how she completely understood his position.
Yet, now, she feels completely different.
hmm

she didn't write about it, it was written about in an article i have linked below.

On August 8, Internet gossip Matt Drudge posted an item on his website, the Drudge Report, in which he falsely claimed that Sheehan "dramatically changed her account" of a meeting she had with Bush in June 2004; Drudge attempted to back up his false assertion by reproducing Sheehan quotes from a 2004 newspaper article without providing their context.

here is a link to the original article Drudge quoted:
Bush, Sheehans share moments - if you read the entire article, you will see that those quotes that have made the media rounds, starting with Drudge, misrepresent the truth and are taken out of context. 17 families spent 10 minutes face to face with Bush, hardly enough time.

So, no she didn't completely change her position at all. All you have to do is read the original article, instead of reading second hand quotes that toally misrepresented the truth.

why didn't they quote this part of the artilce?:
"We haven't been happy with the way the war has been handled," Cindy said. "The president has changed his reasons for being over there every time a reason is proven false or an objective reached."

i know why...do you?

Re: she didn't write about it, it was written about in an article i have linked below.

It wasn't the Drudge Report I was talking about.
It was some small town newspaper thing, I had the link but I'll try to find it.

I completely understand the intentional "mishandling" of quotes from her, it's inappropriate but it's the media and I can't say I'm surprised.
I'm not sure if it was also the Drudge Report that had a letter from her family members stating they didn't agree with her handling of the situation.
It is an actual letter from her family - why they'd send it there is beyond me.

I do know that at one point she did try to imply that her son didn't know what he was signing up for when he joined - it's kinda hard not to know what you're getting into.
I completely understand being against the war and the way the media handles it, I do not agree with people using the media to deal with their grief.
If, God forbid, something were to happen to Michael (who does oppose us being in Iraq) I know he'd roll over in his grave if I ever did something like this.

I do feel sorry for her though. From what I understand, the residents of Crawford aren't exactly welcoming her and her fellow protestors with open arms. I figure as long as they are peaceful about it they should let them be.

Re: she didn't write about it, it was written about in an article i have linked below.

actually i posted a a link in my last comment from the small town (Vacaville, CA)newspaper that originally had the story about the families meeting with Bush that is being quoted all over the news media, i'll post it again: Bush, Sheehans share moments. Read it.

You'll see that her position has never really changed, and according to the The Reporter, the original newspaper that first published the story, they say her position has always been consistent about the war in Iraq.

It was the Drudge Report who FIRST falsely claimed Sheehan changed her position (which i also posted a link to in my first comment), after which the news media picked up on it and it spread from from there.

She did try to imply that her son didn't know what he was getting into? Show me where? She's not using the media for grief, she's using the media to bring attention to her cause, which is to stop the war and bring our troops home.

And as far as the residents of Crawford not "exactly welcoming her and her fellow protestors with open arms,", not that they need their support, but it's not intirely true. Didn't you read/watch today's news? A local rancher (who also happens to be a military veteran) offered Sheehan and the protestors his ranch, which actually brings them closer to the Bush ranch, as their campsite. Here is a link: Anti-war protester Sheehan to move campsite. read it.
